I need help with myself! My self-help addiction

Today I am getting up close and personal with my self-help habit.

And to let you know I am not messing around when I call it a habit here are most (but not all) the books that I have bought / read / attempted to read in my search for a solution… and Dom’s one book.

Although I mention Snake Oil sellers I don’t think most Self-Help writers are liars. I think a few are misguided and yet well meaning, many are good and some are wonderful.

The ones that I think are wonderful in the list below, I have given an asterisk. ^_^

Dom’s ONE book:
You Inc – Christine Clifford and Harry Beckwith

All of my books:

*Pema Chödrön The Places That Scare You
Deepak Chopra The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success (and most of the others)
Paulo Coelho The Alchemist
*Stephen Cope – Everything he has ever written, I actually think his book ‘The Wisdom of Yoga: A Seeker’s Guide to Extraordinary Living’ would have been my ONE BOOK – my ‘You Inc’, if I had had the courage to let it change me.

Liz Davenport Order from Chaos
Charles Duhigg The Power of Habit

I just posted a video about this on my channel. I think it could be helpful for you. Please let me know if you watch it. Its called "Are self help books a scam? Is self help an addiction." These types of books have really helped me. You have to read them through the whole way and over and over again and integrate them into every part of your life.

Roseann Littleford-Hutson says:

Woops, I may have inadvertently added to your problem with my birthday present 😟 xx

Brian Boyd says:

The tip of the ice book. LOL. My favourite is 'Don't Sweat the Small Stuff'

Autumn Dawn Leader says:

I think self help only works for those who don't need it. I've tried the things…and have stopped the things…because nothing works. Other than the practical things I learned from mindfulness… but, while it assists in certain ways, it's not a path to happiness and fulfillment…except, of course, to those capable of such a thing…and some of us are just not built that way.
